JL House
Quillota, Chile · 2025
A two-story family home in Quillota, Chile. Exposed steel structure clad in noble timbers — industrial language softened by warm domestic textures.
The house grows from a long, narrow site and from a clear brief: a contemporary family home with industrial character, restrained on the outside and warm within. The exposed steel structure orders the entire project, while timber finishes and dark tones balance its rigour with domestic warmth.
The entrance opens onto a generous hall framed by a steel screen that wraps the timber staircase. This piece acts as a hinge between the social wing and the private rooms, offering visual depth from the threshold.
On the ground floor, living, dining and kitchen unfold as a single continuous volume, articulated by circular skylights that separate the entertainment zone from the social space without interrupting the flow. The kitchen — designed and built by Stosa Cucine Chile — holds the project's dark palette in premium materials and high-end finishes.
The sequence ends in an outdoor barbecue and pool, extending social life into the landscape. The upper floor houses the private rooms.
The work was built by Osvaldo Cardemil, a master builder of long trajectory, with particular care for the exposed structure as the project's expressive backbone.
