Housing
RO House
Paine, Chile · 2024
A family house in Paine articulated under a generous roof that shelters the home and extends its rooms into the landscape.
The house is organised under a single, generous roof that not only shelters the interior rooms but also extends its shadow over semi-open spaces, creating inhabited thresholds that connect the home to the rural landscape of Paine.
Orientation is deliberate. Bedrooms receive direct morning light, ensuring sunny awakenings. The living and kitchen area is lit instead through a skylight strategically placed along the corridor, giving luminous presence to the social heart of the house without further exterior openings.
The semi-open spaces beneath the roof become the true living room for much of the year, enabling life in the open air and a direct relationship between interior and surroundings.
Developed in collaboration with architect Felo Paredes.
