Corcolenes House

La Reina, Santiago · 2024

Renovation of a 1930s house in La Reina, Santiago. The original façade is preserved while the interior is fully reorganised to open, brighten and modernise the home.

The brief asks for a careful balance: keeping the historic street presence of the house while completely renewing how it works inside. The 1930s façade is preserved as a record of the neighbourhood and of the home's own history.

Inside, the original partitions are reorganised to maximise spatial efficiency and allow natural light to reach all the main rooms. Walls that once fragmented disappear, and new unifying elements connect areas that had lived disconnected.

The kitchen is fully rethought: expanded, reorganised around the family's daily life and finished in a language that is both functional and inviting — becoming the heart of the house.

The project is developed in collaboration with architect Cristian Alviña.
